Ira Dodd

Ira was born on December 23, to the union of Eagle and Beulah Price; included in this union were brothers Thomas and Evans Jr. all of whom preceded here in death.

Ira's family moved to Chicago, Illinois from Haynes, Arkansas in her early years. It was in Chicago that she met and married Nathaniel Dodd Sr. This union welcomed four children; Nathaniel Jr. Deborah (who is now married to Billy W. Steverson), Florence and Barbara. She was continuously a hard working wife and mother.

Ira attended Madame C. J. Walker cosmetology college and became a licensed cosmetologist following in her mother's footsteps. Ira also worked at Tootsie toy Strombecker Corp. Where after a 37-year career, she retired.

Ira was a very independent thinker, enthusiastic conversationalist, skilled bridge player and forever elegant and beautiful. She never met a stranger and made friends wherever she went. She was happiest when discussing the word of God, barbecuing, having cookouts and Mexican food cook ins. For all who were fortunate enough to partake in her expertise - ohh wee "the ultimate pit master" you would proclaim.

Ira's joy and love for others flowed out of her relationship with the Lord and was rooted in her Lord, Jesus Christ and demonstrated God's qualities as an ordained licensed minister at Christway Baptist Church of Chicago under the leadership of Rev. Consuela York and Pastor John York.

In the closing chapters of her life; Pastor Billy W. Steverson filled the role of her pastor and son in law in Forrest City, Arkansas at Greater Mount Olive Outreach Ministries. It was from the home of Pastor Steverson and his wife Deborah that Ira made her peaceful exit. Hallelujah to our God!!

Ira leaves to cherish her wonderful life; a living legacy of children, grand-children, great grand children and many loved ones. She was cherished here on earth and will be sorely missed and always remembered as a most elegant and charming lady.
